There is much to admire in Colombo, the vibrant capital of Sri Lanka, from the graceful green expanse of galle Face green, where the city takes its evening promenade, to the grand colonial-style museums, mansions and exquisite gardens of the wealthier suburbs.

One such area plays host to the ancestral home and headquarters of cricket on the island - the Sinhalese Sports Club ground is the Lord's of Sri Lanka. While it cannot compete with galle and Kandy in terms of beauty or aspect it has a unique intimacy and has seen a lot of thrilling cricket over the last 25 years. On bustling match days, the atmosphere is second to none.

Sri Lanka have only won half of the Test matches played at the SSC, so there is hope for England in what could be a decisive game. Don't miss your opportunity to be there!

Your hotel in Colombo is the Trans Asia. This professionally managed first class city hotel offers excellent value and a wide range of facilities. Centrally positioned in the heart of Colombo, surrounded by large grounds facing the beautiful Beira Lake it is a short coach journey to the ground. It has a fine choice of restaurants and, perhaps necessarily therefore, enjoys a fitness club the use of which is free for in house guests. It also has tennis and squash courts which are available at a local charge, a swimming pool and an ayurvedic treatment spa and beauty centre. Golf can also be arranged at the Colombo Golf Course three miles away.
