Kandy, overlooking an attractive man-made lake, and blessed with a mild, temperate climate and clear air, is the perfect place to catch one of the lively cultural shows, explore the lush Botanical gardens, witness the daily rituals at the Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic, or to simply relax and soak up the atmosphere of Sri Lanka's most enchanting town. Carved into the hills of Sri Lanka's verdant interior, near to this tranquil religious and cultural centre, is the home ground of Trinity College, one of the island's most prestigious schools. Another breathtaking venue, there are few more attractive places to play cricket in the world than the Asgiriya International Stadium.

The pitch, with its extra bounce, offers more assistance to the pace bowlers than any other in Sri Lanka, especially when clouds hug the surrounding hills. England will be confident.

You will be staying at the Chaaya Citadel hotel. set on the banks of the mahaweli River overlooking a scene of lush tropical vegetation it enjoys easy access to Kandy, some 20 minutes away by shuttle bus. The Citadel offers good simple first class accommodation and is one of the best hotels in Kandy with a great atmosphere and good facilities. From Kandy you have easy access to the district of nuwara Eliya (approx. 65 miles ), Kandalama (approx. 54 miles) or sigiriya (approx. 70miles) and a range of day excursions to these and other attractions can be booked locally with our ground agents.
